VINTAGE SOVIET PRE-WII NKVD KGB TABLE LAMP BAKELITE 1930sThis is a vintage Soviet NKVD lamp. Such lams were used by NKVD (People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs) investigators for the night interrogations of the accused in treason (so-called enemies of the people) in 1930-1940s years. The light of the lamp was directed on the face of the accused. The interrogations was lasted during all the night, and, according to the statute, it is not allowed to sleep during the day. Such lamps were also used in the Soviet state institutions. The lamp made by bakelite. Weight of the lamp - 2 kg. Height - 50 cm (20 inches). The lamp is fully functional. There are no splits or cracks on the item. On the stand of the lamp there is an inscription in Russian: price - 7 rubles 50 kopecks, first-rate, power of the lamp - 75 watt. (For reference: It is not recommended to use the lamp/bulb of higher power.) Such lamps in such exellent condition are very rare nowadays even in Russia.
